Having always been curious about why people do what they do, I’ve developed a passion for UX Research and Human Centered Design. Focusing on what a user really wants is the key to creating enjoyable experiences that people will tell their friends about, and my keen empathy and analytic mind can bring that to any website, app and/or product.
My path to this field began while I was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I fell in love with research when I was studying whether infants could tell the difference between animate and inanimate objects (my initial findings were yes!). That power of the (early!) human mind had me convinced that people are key and we have all the answers we need if we just ask the right questions.
After college, I brought this curiosity into my role as a web producer, where I truly developed a unique perspective on what goes into creating websites. I have built and updated websites, collaborated with developers and graphic designers, translated tech-talk to non-techy people, and helped to implement new content management systems. As a webmaster, I incorporated User Centered Design when making our State College’s website more accessible to everyone.
My love of research, experience as a web producer and UX training (370+ hours!) has me well prepared for an opportunity to work on a UX team. Please be in touch if you’d like to work with me to develop user-friendly websites and products.
